Free Motion Compositions Workshop Description

Learn how to make attention - getting free motion compositions to enhance negative space in your quilts.

About Christina Cameli

Christina Cameli has endeared herself to fans all over the world through her quilting books and Craftsy classes. Christina’s gentle, supportive spirit is equally
suited to teaching quilting and her career as a nurse-midwife. As a fabric designer for Maywood Studio and non-stop quilt designer, she is never bored.
Christina finds her greatest joys with scrappy patchwork, free-motion quilting and wedge based piecing. Outside of the sewing room and the clinic, she
spends her days with her blended family and rescue lab mix in Portland Oregon, trying to get in an afternoon paddleboarding when she can.

Supply list

• Thread (I recommend Aurifil and superior threads. Contrasting threads will
be easier to see, while matching threads will give better textural effect.)
• Quilting gloves (I use Fons and Porter quilting gloves)
• Small scissors
• Temporary fabric marker such as a Frixion pen that will show up on your
fat quarters.
• Some thin chipboard (such as a cereal box) and paper scissors
• Notebook for sketching
• Pen for sketching
• 2 fat quarters (18" x 20", solids are best for visibility. It is fine to use muslin
if you prefer)
• 2 pieces of batting 20” x 24” or larger each
• 2 pieces of muslin 20” x 24” or larger each each

Prior to class please prepare 2 quilt sandwiches using the fabric supplies given.
Place muslin on bottom, batting in the center, and fat quarter on top. Use curved
basting pins or basting spray to hold the layers together.

Please be sure your machine is cleaned of fluff, and has a fresh needle, and is set up
for free-motion quilting.
